Bike tour in and around Karlsruhe

We will take you on a bike tour in and around Karlsruhe.
The route leads via Eggenstein-Leopoldshafen (KIT Campus North) through some nature reserves along the Rhine to Rheinstetten. From there we continue via Ettlingen and the Durlacher Turmberg back to the starting point at KIT.
On the way you will always learn some interesting things about places along our route.

Further information:
The trip takes approx. 7 hours including a few breaks. We will cover a distance of approx. 70 km and 250 m elevation gain (Turmberg).
If you would like to end the bike tour early or only ride part of the route, this is no problem as we will pass a few train stops along the way.
Therefore, please take your KVV semester ticket or Deutschlandticket with you as a precaution or download a free KVV ticket (only valid at night and on weekends) at https://campus.studium.kit.edu/reports/studyreports.php → Create new certificate of study → KVV certificate.
Please note that it will only be possible to purchase food and drinks to a limited extent on the way. Therefore, please bring your own food and sufficient drinks. We will take several smaller and larger breaks, during which you will have enough time to eat, drink and go to the toilet, as well as to get to know each other.
During our big lunch break in Rappenwört, you can also buy ice cream and food on site.

Notes on participation:
You will need a bike to participate.
If you don't have a bike in Karlsruhe, you can also borrow a KVV-Nextbike.
To do this, register early with your KIT e-mail address at https://secure-nextbike.net/fg/de/registrierung/. The KVV-Nextbike bikes are then free of charge for the first 30 minutes and cost €0.50 for each additional half hour. Further information at https://www.kvv-nextbike.de/de/campusbike/. In this case, please choose a nextbike that really works perfectly, otherwise it can be extremely tiring to ride the entire route on the nextbike.
Please check your bike thoroughly before setting off so that there are no problems on the way and make sure that the bike is roadworthy.
The bike excursion takes place in a large group. Therefore, please be at the meeting point with your bike by 12:00 noon at the latest (entrance turquoise engineering tower 10.23).

Please note that you should wear a bicycle helmet during the bicycle tour.
