Computational Modeling in Engineering
Here you can find information about the master’s program Computational Modeling in Engineering (CME). There is a list with frequently asked questions below, which may help you with your study choice.
Any further questions? Don´t hesitate to come to our consultation hour or write us a message. You can also find information on the KIT website.
- What can I expect?
CME is an interdisciplinary masters program including natural and computer science and engineering. The main focus lies on mathematical and physical modelling with data-driven and numerical methods. Beside the theoretic and practical scientific fundamentals you can choose from a range of electives like material science, thermodynamical and fluid mechanics.
The winter semester 26/27 is the first semester of this program, so there may be some changes.

- What are the requirements to apply?
The requirements for admission to the master's degree program in Computational Modeling in Engineering are:
bachelor's degree:
a bachelor's degree or at least an equivalent degree from a university with a minimum final grade of 2.3. The program must have been completed within a standard period of study of at least three years and with a minimum number of 180 ECTS credits.- required minimum knowledge and minimum achievements in the areas of
- mathematics (at least 15 credit points)
- natural sciences and engineering: 40 credit points (or 25 credit points if you are among the top 10 percent of graduates of your graduating year)
proof of successful participation in a selection interview. Applicants who have achieved 10 of the maximum 20 points are considered suitable for the program.
- Language requirements:
- Certificate of sufficient knowledge of the English language, at least level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
- Alternative proof of your English language skills (for example a bachelor's thesis written in english or your university entrance qualification) (for more informations visit the oficial website)
- What is the application process?
You can apply via the KIT website. After sending all the required documents you will be invited to an application interview.
This interview is held in person at the faculty but an online interview upon request is also possible. During the interview you will have to discuss engineering issues and your motivation for this degree program will be assessed.
The application deadline is July 15 for the winter term and January 15 for the summer term.
Don't be surprised if you don't hear anything about your application for a while. The Office of Student Affairs sometimes takes quite a long time to process everything.
