What is a 4.0 certificate and how do I get one?

With a 4.0 certificate, the examiner confirms that the work performed has been passed in any case. This is not yet the final grade. The certificate is there to provide proof of performance before the end of the correction process (correction + inspection + entry in the student portal), for example for an application for a Master's degree. If such a certificate is required, simply write to the responsible examiner and explain the reason.

For CIW/BIW, the 4.0 certificate must be requested from the responsible examination board, which will check the necessity of the certificate, as this is only issued in well-founded exceptional cases in order to avoid unnecessary additional work on the part of the examiners. The form can be found under https://www.ciw.kit.edu/bpa.php (Application for a 4,0 Bescheinigung).
