O-Phase 2026

Dear fellow students,

we are excited that you have decided to study at KIT, and we, the Fachschaft MACH/CIW, warmly welcome you. As the Fachschaft, we are the official student representatives for the Departments of Mechanical Engineering and Chemical Engineering and Process Engineering.

To help you settle in at the university and get off to a great start, we’ve organized a two-week orientation period for you. During this time, you’ll receive all the important information you need about your studies, explore the campus and the city, and, of course, get to know your fellow students. This year, the orientation period will take place from October 12 to October 26. So be sure to mark these dates on your calendar right away and look forward to lots of new experiences.

You can find an overview of the most important information on our website under “O-Phase 2026”. Under “Getting Started”, you’ll also find a list of important organizational topics. A comprehensive overview of the events we’re offering during the O-Phase can be found in the “O-Calendar”.

On the first day (Oct. 12), the general check-in for the orientation phase will also take place. Please bring your enrollment certificate (or, alternatively, a copy of your admission letter) and a form of identification (such as a id, a driver’s license, etc., for age verification). Regular classes begin the week of October 26, depending on your degree program.

For everyone who is currently starting a master’s program at KIT, we have also organized a separate “Master’s Orientation Week”. It will take place during the second week, starting Tuesday, October 20. For each event, it is noted below whether it is intended for first-year bachelor’s students, first-year master’s students, or both.

To help you network in advance and share important information, we've set up WhatsApp groups for each graduating class. You can find the invitation links here for bachelor's and master's programs, respectively, for each degree program. Also, be sure to sign up for our semester mailing lists so you don't miss any important information, and feel free to follow our Instagram account @fmc.kit for regular updates from the student council.

We're looking forward to a great orientation week with you
