What are the consequences of the expiry of the examination entitlement?
If you have lost your examination entitlement in a subject, you may not initially register for any further examinations. To restore this entitlement, you must submit an application: in the case of a deadline violation, an application for an extension of the deadline and in the case of a failed repeat examination, an application for a second repeat. You cannot apply for a second resit for orientation examinations! If you wish to apply for an extension of the deadline for an orientation examination, please contact the student representatives of the examination board beforehand. Once this application has been approved (and you have passed the examination in the subject), your entitlement to take the examination will be restored. In this case, there are no further consequences. If no such application is made, the examination remains ultimately failed and the examination entitlement is lost.
The student representatives on the examination boards will guide you through the application process. To receive the most accurate advice on this topic, contact them directly via the contact form on our website.
However, you do not have to submit an application that can lead to the restoration of your examination entitlement, in which case your examination entitlement will be lost. However, most universities require upon admission that the examination entitlement in this or a related subject has not been lost. Each faculty and university decides for itself whether a degree program is related. Most universities of applied sciences do not require an intact examination entitlement when enrolling. If you complete a Bachelor's degree at such a university in the subject in which you have lost the right to take examinations, it will be restored and enrollment at universities is possible again.
At KIT, MACH and MIT are related, as are CIW and BIW . If you would like to transfer to KIT from another university and have lost your right to take examinations in a subject at this university, please contact the relevant examination board.
